The road to the LPGA is going to look a lot different for the Symetra Tour’s 40th competitive season. Over the past few months, the official qualifying tour of the LPGA has deferred tournaments, rearranged playing schedules, and implemented new health and safety practices to protect the players and the competition during the COVID-19 pandemic. And while only two of the three Insurance Office of America (IOA)-sponsored events remain on the roster for the 2020 season, co-founder John Ritenour recently commended the Symetra Tour for continuing to stay committed to athletes, partners, and sponsors affiliated with the tour.
“Nobody could have predicted just how many obstacles the golf community would face in 2020,” said John Ritenour. “The Symetra Tour team stepped up and made some tough decisions for the sake of players and their safety, and we could not be more supportive of their quick and careful response.”
Although opening events for the Symetra Tour will now resume at the end of July, rather than earlier in the month, many of the tour’s canceled events are expected to reappear on the schedule for the 2021 competitive season.
