Now in its 26th year, the Insurance Office of America (IOA) Corporate 5k won’t be running on its original schedule. Originally set for Thursday, April 9, the annual walk/run will now take place on Thursday, October 1, 2020. Working alongside health officials and local government offices, Track Shack and IOA postponed the race in an effort to safeguard walkers, joggers, and runners during the COVID-19 health crisis. While the decision was not an easy one, IOA co-founder, John Ritenour, and current CEO and chairman, Heath Ritenour, understood that it was the necessary one.
“Small businesses, large companies, non-profits, and even CEOs themselves participate in the IOA Corporate 5k,” explained John Ritenour. “Instead of putting runners at risk or canceling the event altogether, we worked with Track Shack to come up with a plan that would continue the event while meeting health and safety guidelines.”
Although participants will run on a different day, the causes they run for — the Track Shack Foundation, Second Harvest Food Bank, and Christian Service Center — will remain the same. Open through September, registrations for the 2020 IOA Corporate 5k allow companies to sign up for the race in groups and send invitations to additional team members.
